Magnífico Douro has converted the propulsion system of its Rabelo boat Dona Antónia — 17.5 meters long and with 30 years of history — from an internal combustion engine to 100% electric power.
This transformation makes it possible to sail the calm waters of the Douro River with even greater serenity, enjoying the peace and silence that make this landscape so special, especially on the stretch upstream from Pinhão.
The Dona Antónia was the first fully electric boat to operate in Portugal, and it remains the only one licensed to carry more than 12 passengers.
Equipped with energy storage batteries and solar panels, the boat is fully recharged overnight through a shore power connection.
